2. For tenant-occupied sites and groundwater-use sites where it is difficult to determine actual measurements via meter inspection slips or other means, calculations include reasonable estimates based on employee headcount ratios or production output ratios.

We will continue to strive to understand water risks and promote efficient water use across the entire Group going forward.

Wastewater treatment

The UNISOL Group is committed to proper treatment of the wastewater produced in the course of our business activities.
In our Construction Products Business, for example, significant quantities of wastewater are produced in the pre-painting degreasing process* carried out during production of Full-Brace, our earthquake-resistant structural component. This is passed through wastewater treatment equipment for neutralization, then undergoes scheduled water quality testing before being released into public sewerage systems. We have set stricter standards (3% lower) for these tests than those stipulated for municipalities by the Water Quality Pollution Control Act, and use these to control hazardous substances and contaminants.
In addition, our procedures, management, and disposal of the sludge produced by our wastewater treatment equipment are carried out in line with laws and regulations for waste treatment and sanitation.

*Degreasing process: the process of removing oil from and otherwise cleaning metal surfaces.
