Treatment of waste

We sort and appropriately treat the waste generated in the course of our business activities. Our waste that can be recycled into new materials for reuse is collected by recycling companies. Waste that cannot be recycled is treated and disposed of in line with the procedures, management, and prefectural reporting required by the Act on Waste Management and Public Cleaning.

Our efforts in this area have been highly praised, and in October 2024, the Furusato Building, our Osaka Headquarters, was honored with an award for buildings making an outstanding contribution to waste reduction by the Environment Bureau of Osaka City Government. This award can be presented to buildings that have received a certificate for excellence in waste reduction—which recognizes buildings making an outstanding contribution to waste reduction and recycling—at least five times (if awarded in consecutive years) or at least six times (if not). The Company has been awarded this certificate five years in a row, beginning in 2020.

Use of recycled materials

Full-Brace, the earthquake-resistant structural component produced by our Construction Products Business, uses raw materials made from recycled iron (in turn made from scrap iron).
Melting down iron in the raw materials manufacturing process generates significant CO2 emissions. However, the recycled iron used for Full-Brace is made from raw materials manufactured in an electric furnace, which has lower CO2 emissions.
